Tempo Dance Festival - 2022
Through the second half of 2022, Tempo: Te Rerenga o Tere burst to life through a series of connected events in multiple venues.
The Creative Team and artist rōpū worked closely together to find presentation solutions that were best suited for each of the works. The programmed activities were presented in five different venues in Tāmaki Makaurau, including a digital online space.
Themes exploring the relationship between humans and technology, connection to place, a remembering of the past, and a sense of forging community echoed through many of the works.
The diversity of spaces and programmed activities allowed new audiences to connect with dance in ways that previously hadn't, and welcomed back existing dance audiences with a sense of invigoration and innovation. The connected series of programmed events allowed people to engage with Tempo at multiple moments across the year, with each connection contributing to the flow and momentum of the festival throughout 2022.
