Hine Downtown is a walking performance designed for urban spaces in Aotearoa. It draws inspiration from Hineahuone (the first woman in Te Ao Māori), alongside other atua who connect to our physical and social selves. These stories and characters walk alongside the everyday city environments, offering new interpretations through movement and sound.

Rachel Ruckstuhl-Mann has collaborated with Salvador Brown to create an audio soundscape blending Taonga Puoro, spoken word, site recordings, and environmental sounds, transporting us into the world of Hine Downtown.

This show is suitable for both adults and children (but remember, everyone must be registered). The hīkoi covers a variety of urban landscapes, including steep gradients, grass, escalators, and possibly stairs. Unfortunately, due to these conditions, we cannot guarantee full accessibility, and we apologise for any inconvenience.
